Section 1: Welcome to GoView

What is GoView?

GoView provides Estate Agents with instant online access to high quality, detailed Ordnance Survey maps for use in property details. GoView is a Landmark Information Group service, and powered by Promap, the number one mapping site for property professionals in the UK.

What type of maps does GoView provide?

GoView provides 3 Ordnance Survey maps instantly for each property.

  1. A Detail map derived from a 1:1250 scale map - accurately depicts the property and building outlines
  2. A Street map derived from a 1:25,000 scale map - shows the property location, street names and places
  3. A Road Atlas map derived from a 1:50,000 scale map - identifies the location in relation to the town

The maps are provided electronically in JPEG (or JPG) format. JPEG provides a suitable format for professional printing and use on websites, optimised to ensure quality. JPEG is a global standard supported by all major software providers. All maps are supplied as an image of 2100 x 2100 pixels and approximately 450k in file size.

Do I have to pay a subscription fee?

No! GoView is a pay as you go system and registration is simple and free.

How do I pay for the maps?

With GoView you only pay for the maps you order. You will have an account that can have multiple user and will be invoiced monthly at either a contact, office or organisation level, or quarterly if your spend is below £50.

How secure is GoView?

GoView is very secure. GoView requires a secure connection to protect any sensitive information (e.g. your username and password) that is exchanged between you and the server. The secure connection mechanism is the same as that used when handling on-line credit card payments. When you are using a secure link, you will notice that Internet Explorer displays a small padlock in the status bar at the bottom of your screen and the website address begins with https. This is your assurance that all transmitted information will be safe and protected.

How do I register for GoView?

Registration is simple and free. Just complete the online registration form and, following a credit check, your account will be set up. We will then email through your Username for immediate access to GoView.

How do I receive the maps?

Once the order has been confirmed, the maps will be automatically emailed to you, and also made available for instant download from our website. The speed at which you receive them will vary from a few seconds to a minute, depending on your internet connection speed.

Section 2: Registering for GoView

Before using GoView you will need to register. You can do this in two ways, either by registering on line at www.goview.co.uk, or by contacting Customer Services on 0870 242 2282. For further instructions on how register online, please refer to the 'Registering for GoView' section of this user guide.

Section 3: Logging In

To use GoView you will need to login to our website. You can run GoView on Apple Macs and any computer that has a Windows 98 operating system or above. GoView has been tested with and should work with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape and Safari.

Logging in to GoView

Open your web browser, enter "www.goview.co.uk" into the address bar, and hit Enter.

In the top right hand corner of the website you will see the words 'GoView registered users login:' Below that you will see the words 'Username' and 'Password' with corresponding boxes to the right. Enter your Username and Password in to the respective boxes. Click the Login button provided.

Please note your Username and Password are case sensitive. If you cannot login on the first attempt check that 'Caps Lock' on your keyboard is turned off and try again.

GoView will now load on your screen. You are now ready to start using GoView!

Section 4: Locating and displaying a map

This section will explain to you how to locate and display your map in GoView.

Locating a property

The 'Locate Property' window should now be open in front of you; if it isn't, go to 'Logging in to GoView'. How you locate your map will depend on the information you have to start with.

You can locate your property using any of the fields provided, but the quickest way to locate a property is to enter a building name or number and a full postcode.

NOTE: Please note that if you search for a location using just a town name and there are more than a thousand properties, GoView will not return a result.

Simply enter the details you have for the property in to the relevant boxes provided and click Locate. Depending on the information you have entered, you will now see either the 'Search Results' or the 'Address Confirmation' page. If you are viewing the 'Search Results' page you will need to refine the results further before displaying your map. To do this, click the link that corresponds to the property you are looking for, and GoView will then display the 'Address Confirmation' page. Click the Display button on this page to display a map.

Displaying a map

The 'Confirm Property' page should now be open in front of you; if it isn't please refer to the earlier sections of this user guide.

Your map will be displayed on the 'Confirm Property' page with the property you specified identified by a site marker. You can change, move or even delete the site marker provided. If you want to change the site marker provided, click one of the alternatives supplied on the left of the map under 'Select Sitemarker'. If you move the site marker and want to return it to it's original position, click the Recentre marker button. You can remove the site marker by clicking the Delete Marker button.

To move around the map displayed on the screen, simply hold down your left mouse button and drag the map.

Once you are happy with your map and no longer wish to alter it, click the Confirm button to move on to the ordering of your maps. Any time you want to start again, click the New Search button.

Section 5: Ordering your maps

The 'Order Maps' page should now be open on your screen; if it isn't, please refer to the earlier sections of this user guide. The 'Order Maps' page is there for you to check that you have selected the right property and are happy before submitting your order.

The total cost of your maps is displayed on the left hand side of your map. This cost covers unlimited printing and use of your maps on all your sales and lettings brochures, details and reports. They can also be used on websites and 3rd party property listing websites.

If you are happy with your map click the Submit Order button to obtain your three map images. GoView will now load your maps of the property you specified.

Section 6: Using your maps

The 'Order Confirmed' page will now appear on your screen. Your order reference number will appear in the top left hand corner of the page. You may wish to note this for future reference. A confirmation email containing links to your map images will also have been sent to the email address you provided when registering for GoView. You can choose to access the maps via the 'Order Confirmed' page or by using the confirmation email.

NOTE: You can change the email address you supplied when registering for GoView by clicking 'my account' on the top toolbar, and using the change request form provided.

To access your maps using the 'Order Confirmed' page, use the links provided to access or save your map. To save your map click the 'save detail image' link (or whichever map you wish to save) and a 'Save As' box will appear. Select the location you would like to save your maps to and click the Save button. The map will be saved in a jpeg format to the location you selected.

How can I use the maps?

The maps are ideal for sales and letting brochures, details and reports. They are also ideal for use in website promotions and property listings, plus window displays.

How many times can I print the maps?

There are no limits to the number of prints you can use so long as your company holds an Ordnance Survey Business Use Copyright Licence.

Can I use the maps on our website or 3rd parties' websites?

Yes. You will need a Business Use Copyright Licence so that you can add the map images on to your own property particulars or add them to 3rd party property listing websites such as rightmove.co.uk

What is a Business Use Copyright licence?

A simple annual licence issued by the Ordnance Survey which for £47.50, or less if you are part of a group of offices, will cover all your likely copyright issues regardless of the number of copies. Once you have finished using GoView, you should log out of the website by clicking the Log Out button on the top toolbar.

Section 7: Useful information about GoView

What is the minimum specification for using GoView?

  • Windows 98, ME, 2000 SP1, XP SP1
  • Apple Mac OS X
  • Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, Netscape, Safari
  • Internet connection speed 56k or ISDN (Broadband recommended)
  • Colour Screen Resolution of 800 x 600 pixels (1024 x 768 pixels recommended)

Registering for GoView?
NOTE: If you already have a login for Promap or the Landmark Orders website, you don't need to register. Contact our customer services team on 0870 242 2282 and they will activate your Username and Password for use in GoView.

To register online, connect to the internet in your usual way and enter the website address of www.goview.co.uk and click the Go button. GoView will appear on your screen. From the tabs available select 'Register' by clicking it once. The GoView registration form will open. Fill out the registration form supplied. The fields marked in bold are mandatory and therefore must be filled out. Fill out at least the mandatory fields, accept the Terms & Conditions and click the Submit button.

NOTE: To read the Terms & Conditions before accepting them, click the words 'Terms & Conditions' and the terms & conditions will appear.

Changing your registration details

You can change details you entered when registering in two ways. If you are logged in to GoView you can click the 'my account' button and use the change request form to change your email address, telephone number and/or password. Alternatively you can change these and any other details you supplied at registration by contacting our Customer Services team on 0870 242 2282.
